National University of Singapore

The National University of Singapore (NUS), ranked 1st in Asia and 11th worldwide (QS Global World Ranking 2021) is Singapore’s flagship university. NUS offers a global approach to education, research, and entrepreneurship, with a focus on Asian perspectives and expertise. We have 17 faculties across three campuses in Singapore, as well as 12 NUS Overseas Colleges across the world. Close to 40,000 students from 100 countries enrich our vibrant and diverse campus community.

Our multidisciplinary and real-world approach to education, research, and entrepreneurship enable us to work closely with industry, governments, and academia to address crucial and complex issues relevant to Asia and the world. Researchers in our faculties, 30 university-level research institutes, research centers of excellence, and corporate labs focus on themes that include energy, environmental and urban sustainability; treatment and prevention of diseases common among Asians; active aging; advanced materials; as well as risk management and resilience of financial systems. Our latest research focus is on the use of data science, operations research, and cybersecurity to support Singapore's Smart Nation initiative.

A student’s experience is determined not only by the quality of academic learning and interactions with faculty but also by the campus environment.

NUS’s three campuses, Kent Ridge, Bukit Timah, and Outram, offer students a conducive learning environment, complete with a range of amenities and services.

Kent Ridge, the sprawling 150-hectare main campus, hosts most of the University’s academic, research, and administrative facilities. It is also a bustling hub of student life, with student residences, sports facilities, and venues for arts and cultural activities.

NUS is committed to holistic personal growth and development and encourages students to immerse themselves in the vibrant and diverse activities that are constantly occurring across the University.

Students can choose to pursue their personal special interests—whether it is culture, music, research, sports, adventure, or something else—through one of the more than 200 student clubs and organizations in NUS.

The University calendar also includes a number of annual events, like Freshman Orientation, the Student Life Fair, and our most historic and iconic event: Rag and Flag, which comprises a community fundraising effort as well as a carnival replete with a parade of floats and choreographed dances to thank the public for their support.
