Course Highlight/ Description

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Language Teaching is a comprehensive programme that consists of the studies of English language, linguistics, literature, soft skills and English teaching pedagogy. Linguistics-related courses are significant as understanding linguistics allows one to understand English as well as other languages in depth; soft skills courses enable students to develop their intra- and interpersonal communication skills, which are essential criteria for landing a good job in the future. In order to produce well-rounded graduates, literature courses are also included as enrichment courses to prepare the undergraduates to be involved in different fields of study that involve poetry, prose, drama and theatre. Teaching English as a second language courses are also core courses for this programme as graduates would also possess the qualification to teach English to learners of various proficiency levels.

Full Time: 3 Years

Entry Requirement

• A pass in STPM / A-Level with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any 2 subjects and credit in English in SPM or its equivalent; or

• UEC with at least Grade B in 5 subjects including English; or

• Matriculation/ Foundation with minimum CGPA 2.00 or its equivalent and credit in English in SPM or its equivalent; or

• A Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or its equivalent and credit in English in SPM or its equivalent; and

• A minimum score of MUET Band 4 or IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (written based) or 1119 C6 or its equivalent.
